History’s Greatest Voyages of Exploration

October 27, 2016

Throughout history, one of man’s greatest desires has been to explore, encounter and know the unknown.
This series will look at the motivations behind journeys that led to the frozen Poles, Asia, Europe, the
Americas, Africa and Space. You’ll learn about the role that myths and legends played in inspiring these
voyages to the great unknown. Learn about the Vikings’ arrival in North America; Marco Polo’s journey
along the Silk Road to China; Christopher Columbus’ “Enterprise of the Indies” and more. In this great
lecture series, you not only get the adventurer’s point of view, but also the found peoples perspective as well.
The tales in this series will help even familiar things take on new meaning, as you learn how deeply they
have motivated centuries of explorers. Your own travels will be enriched as you learn about those who’ve
blazed the trail before us and to see the world through an explorer’s eye!
Enrollment is limited. All Seniors 65 and older are welcome. Call today!
Classes: 2-3 p.m. every Tuesday & Thursday, starting on November 1st-December 8th
